SoccerFours is really happy to announce our latest (additional) location:  Kimbell Playground near Japantown (Steiner and Ellis Streets) will be where the S4s party will be on Monday nights (first session September 13th) and we hope you'll come check it out.  We'll be running 7pm and 8pm sessions just like our Franklin Square location.

The field was recently renovated with the new field turf and is amazing!  We really think you'll enjoy the pitch.   The location too is prime.  It's right off of major bus lines (38 and 22) and has cool places to eat/drink a couple blocks away on Fillmore.  Though there's no dedicated parking lot for the field, there should be a good amount of street parking (especially for the 8pm session).

Also while we're here, we want to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who showed up and shopped/ate/drank beer/watched a World Cup game at the SportsBasement party on the 26th of August.  I believe we, as a group, ended up spending over $1,000 (pre-20% discount) which meant we actually saved a lot of money!   We'll try to have another party 5 months or so from now.

See you on the pitch!

Hey everyone!
It's been awhile since we've posted an update, but we've tried to make it worth your while by having LOTS of stuff to announce!  There's a brief version and a detailed version for your reading pleasure.

2010BOBwinnerlogoShort Version:

  • SoccerFours won Best of the Bay 2010 in the San Francisco Bay Guardian!
  • SoccerFours is expanding to a second night in San Francisco!
  • SoccerFours teams up with SportsBasement and throws a party to celebrate!
  • SoccerFours is looking for a new East Bay field (turf field with lights)
  • SoccerFours is hosting a (free) Yahoo Fantasy (Soccer) Football league!

Detailed Version:

  1. SoccerFours is pleased to announce an award we won in the San Francisco Bay Guardian newspaper -- Best Four on Four 'ballin!   If you're reading this, chances are you know what SoccerFours offers (skills improvement, fitness improvement, or simply a chance to play some soccer), but to get this notice (totally unexpectedly!) is a great acknowledgment of what we offer the community.  And, it should be noted that this award wouldn't have been possible without your participation.  SoccerFours is only as good as the people who participate.  You're a great bunch and now it's been made official!   Thanks!
  2. SoccerFours is expanding to a second night in San Francisco -- Monday nights!   We're proud to announce we've procured the NEW Kimball turf field (off of Geary Street near Japantown) from 7pm-9pm for the fall sessions (September 13th) .  The field has recently been renovated and this is the first season it's been available for rental since its opening.  The people at SF Rec and Park tell me this field will become more popular than Franklin currently is, so we're ecstatic to be able to set aside two hours a week for drop-in/pick-up soccer via SoccerFours!   We'll still be keeping our Wednesday night sessions at Franklin Square, so all's well there.   Those who bought the 15-session packs from us will be able to use the passes at either (or both) field(s) as desired.   Look for a new season pass for the Fall soon...
  3. SoccerFours teams up with SportsBasement!   We're really proud to be able to announce our partnership with SportsBasement.  It's been a long time coming, but we're finally on their books as a non-profit organization which means that when you present your (currently non-existent) S4s Player Card you'll get 10% off ALL purchases at any SportsBasement location in the bay area.  If you were to go to SportsBasement now and ask for the discount it should be honored.  As you might imagine, this means we really need to get player cards going!  (There's been a big hurdle to clear on the technical side, but we hope to have that fixed shortly.)  Look for them sometime in September.  Also, as part of our partnership we'll be hosting a SportsBasement party in the Bryant Street (SF) location on Thursday, August 26th.  There will be a bigger discount on merchandise *and* free food / pizza.   It'd be a great time to come on by and check things out (and score some free food).  Highly recommended to come out and have some fun!
  4. SoccerFours is looking for a turf field with lights to use in the East Bay (preferably on Tuesday nights) to continue offering sessions.  Obtaining fields in the East Bay has proven to be a challenge.  If you have connections with an artificial turf field with lights, email chris AT soccerfours DOT com with your info and he'll follow up.  East Bay sessions will be put on hold until we can get a new field.
  5. And finally, SoccerFours is starting a Yahoo Fantasy (Soccer) Football league that's free to join and play.  It's based off of the English Premiership and is a lot of fun to play (especially if you pay any attention to the English league).    If you're interested in playing, create a team then after you've done that, join the SoccerFours Fantasy EPL league (or "group" in Yahoo's lingo).  We're group 9678 and the password for the group is  2.0.1.0. (remove the periods).  Look forward to seeing you in the league!

Hope you have been enjoying the Summer!

-Chris

Until 5 minutes ago, the 8pm session was up for everyone to look at, but closed for anyone to register with.    I've just noticed that problem and fixed it (from Denmark no less.. yay for Telecommuting!).    The 8pm session signup is up and ready for your reservations.   Have fun at the sessions tonight!   :)
